HD Custom Finish instructors are certified to teach concealed carry classes in the state of Illinois, as well as certify concealed carry training for about a dozen other states. When you train to carry, you have many different choices for training, but where we differ is that we not only meet, but exceed the state requirements for training and – we care. We care enough to provide personal coaching in every class, to every student who needs it.
You’ll get relevant, accurate and professional training for concealed carry. You’re carrying to protect your life, and the lives of loved ones – don’t cheat yourself by cutting corners on training.

JEFF HUGHES:
Jeff offers his life-long experience in hunting and shooting to the team. He’s a veteran of the Illinois Army National Guard, NRA Life member, Illinois State Rifle Association member and hunting/shooting industry veteran. His background of using firearms and keen interest in passing along that passion for the shooting sports has led him to earn the following;

Becoming a firearms instructor began as an outlet to properly train his family and friends which has quickly expanded to offer those same training principles to most anyone who wants to learn more about firearms safety and protection for themselves and their families.
BRANDON NORRIS:
Brandon began hunting and shooting at a young age. As the son of a police officer, Brandon spent countless hours at the range loading magazines, posting targets, and picking up brass just to earn his chance to sling some lead at the end of the day. Shooting has always been a passion for Brandon and it shows when he is teaching both in the classroom and on the range. Brandon became 2nd generation law enforcement when he began his own career in 2000 as a correctional officer at a county Sheriffs office. During this time Brandon joined the Sheriffs Reserve program which allowed him to work along side full time deputies. Brandon became a full time police officer in 2003 which afforded him the opportunity to further his training while fueling his passion for shooting. Over the years Brandon has had the opportunity to become certified as a police firearms instructor, patrol rifle instructor, certified armorer, certified police sniper, certified SWAT officer, as well as training in active shooter/rapid deployment and numerous defensive pistol courses. These training opportunities have given Brandon a well rounded background to share his experience with our students. The only downfall to training regularly is that your firearms begin to show wear. This is how Brandon became interested in Cerakote coatings. It started as a way to refurbish his own firearms but before long friends and family wanted work done too. Seeing another opportunity to mix business with pleasure, Brandon joined forces with close friend and hunting parter Jeff Hughes to begin HD Custom Finish. He has been spraying Cerakote for a little over a year, and completed Cerakote Certified Applicator training at NIC Headquarters in Oregon in the fall of 2016.
